DST Sponsored Inspire Science Camp

      NIST, Berhampur, is currently organizing the five-day DST Inspire Science Camp for the top 1% +2 Science students from various schools across Orissa. The program was inaugurated in a grand ceremony on January 21, 2013, at the NIST auditorium.

January 21: On the inaugural day, Prof. D.P. Duari, Director, B.M. Birla Planetarium, Kolkata, and Prof. B.S. Pani, C.E.O, Span Resources Management Service, Bhubaneswar, have graced the occasion.

January 22: On the second day of the event, Prof. Amitabha Mukhopadhyay, Professor, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, (Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee in 2002); and Prof. Karmeshu, Professor and Dean, School of Computer and Systems Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, (Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee in 1993) have visited the campus and inspired the students with their ingenious talks.

January 23: Prof. Sankar Prasad Pati, Emeritus Professor, NIST, Berhampur, Odisha, and former Professor of Physics, Sambalpur University, was present on the third day to deliver his valuable talk.

January 24: The penultimate day of the 5-day program had a packed schedule with eminent personalities like Prof. S. De, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT-KGP, Dr. Basantta Jena, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai, and Dr. T.K. Gangopadhyaya, Scientist E-II, Fiber optics and Photonics Division, CGCRI, Kolkata, visiting the campus to give inspiring lectures. A wonderful line-up of cultural events made an otherwise chilly evening thrilling.

January 25: On the last day of the DST-sponsored Inspire Science Camp interesting talks were delivered by renowned academicians and scholars like Prof. Ashok Mishra, Dept. of Chemistry, IIT, Chennai, Prof. Amit Patra, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT-KGP, and Prof. D. Chatterji, Dept. of Molecular Physics, IISc, Bangalore.

      The program concluded on January 25th in a grand closing ceremony, followed by prize distribution. Prizes were given away by chief guest to students who emerged victorious in the various competitions organized by the Institute as part of the program.
