25 MAY

NIST University organized an enriching expert talk by Prof. (Dr.) Sadananda Sahu, former Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering & Management at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The session witnessed active participation from HoDs and faculty members across disciplines.

NIST University had the privilege of hosting Dr. Balakrushna Panda, Former Development Commissioner, Government of India, at its lush green campus for an insightful and inspiring interaction. Dr. Panda engaged with students and faculty members on the theme “Viksit Bharat and Viksit Odisha,” sharing his valuable perspectives on India’s growth trajectory. He highlighted key developmental projects in Odisha, emphasizing how improved infrastructure and connectivity are set to boost trade, exports, and overall economic progress in the region.

18 MAY

The Department of Chemistry, NIST University organized an academic and research exposure visit to the IISER Berhampur. MSc and PhD students participated in the visit, accompanied by Dr. Duryodhan Sahu, HoD of Chemistry, Dr. Jagannath Panda PhD, and Dr. Asish Kumar Mohapatra. During the visit, Prof. Malaya Rana, HoD, Chemical Sciences, IISER Berhampur, along with his team, extended a warm welcome to the students and faculty members.

NIST University successfully organised a one-day workshop on AI and Industry 4.0 Tools for Innovators and Entrepreneurs at the Volga Conference Center in association with its AI Global Innovation Center team.

NIST University celebrated International Women's Day with enthusiastic participation from students and staff members. The celebration commenced with a Walkathon involving women employees and students, setting a vibrant tone for the event. Dr. P. Rajesh Kumar, Dean (Academics), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

NIST University proudly congratulates Ms. Lipsa Kumari Dash, Research Scholar from the Dept. of Biotechnology, along with her Ph.D. Supervisor, Dr. Abinash Dutta, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Biotechnology, for being honored with the Best Presentation Award at the “BioFrontiers: International Conference on Microbiological and Biotechnological Breakthroughs 2026.”

NIST University is proud to announce that four talented NISTians have been selected for the prestigious Indian National Science Academy - INSA – Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) – The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) Summer Research Internship Program, a highly competitive initiative that recognizes academic excellence and research potential among students across the country. B Sai Krishna (BTech-CSE) has been selected at the Central University of Karnataka, Subhangi Panigrahi (BTech-CSE) at NIPGR, New Delhi, PRIYADARSANI PRADHAN (BTech-CSE) at NRSC, Hyderabad, and Banamali Sahu (BTech-ECE) at RMRIMS, Patna (ICMR).

The Global Summit for Blue Economy was held at the Odisha State Convention Center on 13–14 March 2026, organized by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor. The summit brought together an international community of students, researchers, educators, technology developers, business leaders, funding agencies, naval personnel, and policymakers to discuss sustainable innovations for the blue economy.

NIST University's IIC Cell organized a inspirational talk on "Achieving Problem–Solution Fit" at its Volga Conference Center, TIFAC Building. The session was delivered by Dr. Prabina Kumar Padhi, Assistant Professor and HOD, Dept. of Business Administration, SBRG Women's College, Berhampur. Prof. Alok Patra welcomed the speaker and the students to the seminar.

NIST University proudly hosted Kurukshetra-2026, the grand inter-university sports competition of South Odisha, on its campus from 26th February to 2nd March 2026. The week-long sporting event brought together talented athletes from various institutions, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, teamwork, and healthy competition. The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. Priyadarsan Patra, Our Esteemed Vice Chancellor, who encouraged students to actively engage in sports along with academics, highlighting the role of physical activities in building a balanced and successful life.
