The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a Government of India sponsored collaborative educational program. It is a joint venture project by Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science and is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology.

As a part of its mission, NPTEL produces many courses in web and video format, and provides E-learning through its umpteen online courses in Engineering, Science and Humanities streams. The mission of NPTEL is to enhance the quality of Engineering education in the country by providing free online courseware. By developing curriculum-based video and web courses, the program aims to enhance the quality of engineering education in India.

Currently, NPTEL offers over 600 courses online and plans to increase the number of courses to 10,000 in future. The course videos are available in streaming mode, and may also be downloaded for viewing offline. The IITs and the IISc have worked together to develop this web and video based material for basic undergraduate science and engineering courses in order to enhance the quality of technical education in India.

To create awareness among engineering colleges in the country about the availability of online courses and tutorials, NPTEL joined hands with Classle Knowledge, a Social Enterprise that provides online tutorial courses to students. With the mission of increasing education quality and employability as its core, Classle Knowledge constantly looks for ways to provide more value to the learning community. The partnership between NPTEL and Classle Knowledge gives significant momentum to reach the goal.

Classle Knowledge continuously looks for ways to bring in business, technical, process and social innovations towards learning empowerment and offers it free to everybody. The growing community of learners and institutions adopting and using Classle is a testimonial to that. As a web-based tutorial, Classle offers Private, On-Demand Teaching - Learning Platform for an Institute, hosted on cloud with control in memberships.

As a part of this partnership, Classle Knowledge, through its internet-enabled Classle and Campus Classle platforms, will deliver the world-class content and resources of NPTEL to the learning community. The entire web and video resources of NPTEL are now made available through Classle and 'Campus Classle' platform. Classle platform will also bring value-added services built on top of the NPTEL resources to empower the learners and dramatically increase their learning effectiveness. Through this partnership, they aim to introduce many new services and functionality.
