Work speaks for itself, so does academics at NIST. NISTian Shiva Patro (2014 Batch Graduate) was named one of WayUp’s Top 100 Interns in America. Earlier, he had won the CoreEL Award in 2017.
Out of 16 students selected from Odisha to serve as paid interns in Berhampur Municipal Corporation, 8 were from NIST. 2017-batch NIST students Sheetikant Mohanty, ECE; Shivendra Singh, ECE; Digvijay Rath, ECE; Ryka Mukta, ECE; Suman Acharya, ELE; Paras Panda, ELE; Samil Mahapatra, ELE; and Manu Shree, CSE served two months (16th August to 15th October) for the local government under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner, Shri Chakravarti Singh Rathore, IAS. The interns had a unique opportunity to gain first-hand, real-life, practical experience and training while contributing to their host organization on city development covering a wide area of responsibility such as website development, recycling/reducing plastic, city beautification, street vending, e-library, pollution/waste management and e-subidha under the departments of revenue, IT/enforcement, welfare and accounting, sanitation, NULM (national urban livelihood mission), and engineering. They also suggested ideas and submitted weekly reports. The approved ideas were realized with financial support.
Internship at Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), India's largest and most diverse research organization, is like a dream come true. Only a select number of students get this chance. 6 students from NIST cleared the Integrated Test Range (ITR) and did their internship at DRDO Station, Chandipur.
NIST Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) students (Ronak Dutta, Debesh Sankar Tripathy, Devasish Tripathy, and Sumit Kumar Sarangi) interned at Electronics Corporation of India Limited CED EZ, a Govt Of India (Department of Atomic Energy, India) Enterprise having strong presence in indigenous Electronic Security, Communications, Networking and e-governance domains.
