LEARNING @ NIST

From walking in as a fresher with no direction and walking out at the end of the 4th year with a job in hand is probably the best transformation a person can get. The foundation of NIST is the ethics that it follows as an institution. The first and foremost attraction of NIST is the discipline that one can feel all across the campus. The rules and regulations setup by NIST are followed by everyone associated with the institute in every possible way. The ambience across NIST makes it a quiet and peaceful place to study and the greenery all around the campus just adds to the sight. Finally the important aspect which any student looks forward to the ample opportunity that NIST offers. For campus recruitment drives, some of the big industries of our country come to hire students from NIST. These industries include names like, Infosys, Wipro, Trinity India, Sankalp semiconductors, Apptus and many more.

To infer the whole context, NIST has everything to offer that a student looks for in an institute. The only thing that NIST requires in its student is the zeal to work hard.

NIST’s Academic Excellence and Industry-Driven Learning Environment

NIST is committed to providing a holistic academic environment that fosters excellence and industry readiness. With 100-minute interactive classes and well-equipped labs, students receive in-depth subject knowledge and hands-on experience, making learning engaging and stress-free. The institute ensures students have access to comprehensive study materials, subject books, and two extensive libraries, helping them prepare effectively for examinations. Internal exams follow the university pattern, enhancing students’ confidence for end-semester assessments.
Beyond academics, NIST encourages co-curricular activities through Teacher’s and Research Assistantships, offering students opportunities to assist faculty, engage in research, and earn incentives. These initiatives not only strengthen students’ academic foundation but also inspire others to strive for excellence. Recognized as a benchmark research institution in Eastern India, NIST collaborates with prestigious global universities and industries in fields like nanosciences, semiconductor technology, and renewable energy, reinforcing its commitment to innovation.
The institute boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, modern computing facilities, high-speed internet with 1 Gbps leased line connectivity, and reliable power backup. Collaboration with IIT Kharagpur for the MHRD Virtual Laboratory project further enhances students’ practical learning experience.
With a strong emphasis on research, industry collaboration, and hands-on training, NIST ensures its degrees remain relevant to the evolving demands of the professional world. By integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, NIST prepares students to become skilled engineers and researchers, making it a premier institution dedicated to academic excellence, research innovation, and professional development.

RESEARCH ASSISTANCE & SCHOLARSHIP

In view of the many research projects available with faculty, we invite students of only 3rd year or 4th year B.Tech or final year MCA or final year MBA/PGDM to discuss with their faculty guides on Research Projects. NIST Research Committee funds a scheme for employing a small number of our own students as research assistants.

LIFE @ NIST

student activity

NISTians do freak out! Entertainment is also a major part of the curriculum at NIST. We lay special focus on the students' overall progress and growth with a strong emphasis on sports and extra-curricular activities. The college organizes various inter-college competitions. Cultural events are held during college festivals. The NIST-ISTE chapter holds a three-day All-India event called "SANKALP" each year comprising more than 25 technical and cultural programs.

A special event called "Waves", held every year, highlights the cultural talent of our incoming batch. "Waves" is a smash-hit with students. It is replete with dances, debates, skits, mono-acting, just-a-minute sessions, painting, cartooning, tattoo-making, dumb charades, antakshari, rapid-fire quiz and multi-cultural fashion parade. Students also put up their own food and games stalls. "Waves", therefore, is total fun. Each hostel also organizes its own extra-curricular activities.
