NIST AWARDED RS. 30 LACS GRANT FROM AICTE

National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST) has received a grant of Rs. 30.00 Lacs from the All India Council of Technical Education, MHRD, Government of India. This grant will be utilized for conducting five high-level faculty development programs in the areas of VLSI, Industrial Automation, Control Systems, MEMS, Power Systems, etc. Two seminars on "Applications of DSP & AI in Electrical Engineering" & "Role & Relevance of Physics in Engineering Education" will also be conducted. The grant also includes the salaries and expenses of two Emeritus Professors who will be joining NIST immediately. Prof Sankar Prasad Pati, who is a renowned teacher and researcher and former Professor of Sambalpur University, in the area of Semiconductors and Prof Jagabandhu Majhi who is reputed researcher in the area of VLSI Design and a former Professor of IIT, Madras. Both the appointments are for a period of two years. Both Emeritus Professors will work with NIST faculty and students to enhance the level of research being conducted in the Institute to a world class level. This grant of Rs. 30 lacs is in addition to the grant of Rs. 1 crore from the Department of Science & Technology under the FIST program and Rs. 50 Lacs for the Entrepreneurship Development Program under DST.
NIST faculty has published over 20 books and 150 papers in refereed journals with high impact factor in the last two years. More than 30 NIST faculty are Ph.D's from top institutes such as IITs/IISc/NITs etc. The Director, Prof Sangram Mudali and the Dean Dr. Ajit K Panda have congratulated the faculty of NIST on their unique achievement in the state of Orissa.
