In keeping its tradition of technical excellence, the Berhampur based National Institute of Science & Technology, noticed up another first when its Research & Development Coordinator, Dr. Amalendu Patnaik was awarded the URSI Young Scientist Award for his work in the field of wireless communication. URSI is an international organization of radio science and its awards are considered highly prestigous among the scientist community.This award was presented to Dr. Amalendu Patnaik at the URSI conference held at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi recently on Oct 23 - 29, 2005. The conference was attended by over 1200 delegates from all over the world and was inagurated by Honorable President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.Among the 134 winners of this world, only 24 Indians out of which Dr. Amalendu Patnaik was the only distinguished scientist from Orissa.
