NIST Faculty wins DST Award

The Department of  Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has recently awarded project funds of Rs 6.6 Lacs to Dr. Partha Mallick, Faculty of Electronics & Communications Department of the National Institute of Science & Technology under the Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP). Under this scheme grants upto Rs. 10.0 lacs are provided to individual innovators/start-up firms to work on their original idea/invention/know-how. During the year 2005-06, 220 innovative ideas were accessed, over 130 evaluated and only 37 were finally selected from all over India for financial support. Dr. Partha Mallick's invention "Electric Fencer" has been highly appreciated by the DST and has therefore been awarded the funds. NIST is already operating a techno-incubator since last 2 years at the STEP in IIT, Kharagpur, where faculty and students are working on development of innovative software products. The Director of the Institute Prof. Sangram Mudali congratulated Dr. Mallick on his unique achievement .
