NIST gets Central Funds for setting up EDC

     Developed and Ready for Commercialization

In a landmark development, the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, has sanctioned Rs. 50 Lacs to National Institute Science & Technology for establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Incubator within the campus. This is the first time any Institute in the state of Orissa has received the funds for the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Incubation Center. The EDC will provide all the facilities for an upcoming entrepreneur to develop products, test, and market them on a prototype level before launching full scale operations. Under the scheme, about 5 entrepreneurship awareness camps per year will be held all over Berhampur and South Orissa to facilitate the development of would-be entrepreneurs. The Institute will provide additional research and development facilities, laboratory facilities in addition to its faculty expertise to all entrepreneurs. The Director Prof Sangram Mudali has launched this unique venture of NIST and has urged all technocrats of the state of Orissa to take advantage of the entrepreneurship development and incubator facilities being offered in the Institute. He congratulated Dr. Partha S Mallick and Dr. Amalendu Patnaik for having been the core team to achieve the establishment of the ED cell at NIST. NIST has also recently got a Rs. 1.00 Crore grant from the Department of Science & Technology for development of two state of the art laboratories in VLSI and Microwave Communications.
