NIST has become the first institute in Orissa to install a Hybrid Renewable Energy Centre. The centre was inaugurated by Director of NIST, Mr. Sangram Mudali along with Deputy Director of Orissa Renewable Energy Development Agency A. K. Choudhury.

   The Hybrid Power Center will use solar and wind energy to generate 5 KW of green energy which will illuminate the Entrepreneurship Development Cell building at NIST campus and letter on, all the public street lights on campus.

   This project will be a learning centre for engineering students who would design, research and develop maximum renewable form of energy and also suggest methods to improve the optimization of green sustainable energy sources.
