Wipro Technologies has hired 79 students from the Berhampur based National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST) in a campus drive held on 9th -10th June, 2010. Out of the 79 students selected, 73 students are from the B.Tech and 6 are from MCA.

With this recruitment, NIST has placed more than 520 of its students in top multinational and international IT, Engineering and Management companies leading to an on-campus recruitment record of over 80%. The major recruiting companies for 2010 have been TCS (148 students), Infosys (72 students), MPhasis (24), Nokia Siemens Network (18), Mahindra Satyam (10), etc. More than 80 job offers have been received by the students of MBA and PGDM in the Institute. The salary has been in the range of Rs. 3.5 – 5.0 lacs per annum.

The Director of NIST, Prof Sangram Mudali, attributed this success to the core strength of NIST in providing students with industry-driven technical exposure, pre-placement training and research-led-teaching.
