Infosys Technologies Limited, Hyderabad conducted a one-day workshop at NIST Auditorium on 30th October 2009 (Friday). This workshop was attended by the B. Tech final year & pre-final year students, M. Tech students, Faculty & Staffs of NIST. Mr. Tanvir Singh (Regional Recruitment Lead-East & North East India, Infosys Technologies Limited, Hyderabad) organized this one-day workshop at NIST.
Dr. Ashutosh Saxena conducted the Session 1 on Information Security (120 minutes). As IT has evolved over a period of time, Information Security requirements have also changed in recent times to automate the tools to protect the files and other stored information. Various networks and communication links are used to protect data during transmission. This technical session focussed on these changes in the modern Information Security systems.
Dr. Saxena is a Principal Researcher in SETLabs, Infosys Technologies Limited. He received his M.Sc. in 1990, M. Tech. in 1992 and Ph.D.in Computer Science in 1999. Government of India, awarded him the Post Doctorate BOYSCAST Fellowship in 2002 to research on "Security Framework for E-Commerce" at ISRC, QUT, Brisbane. He is on the Re- viewing Committees of various International Journals and Conferences. He has authored the book entitled PKI - Concepts, Design and Deployment, published by Tata McGraw-Hill, and also co-authored over 70 research papers/articles and had filled more than dozen patents. His research interest is in the areas of Authentication Technologies, Smart Cards, Key Management and Security Assurance.
Dr. Radha Krishna Pisipati conducted the Session 2 on Business Analytics (120 minutes). The field of business analytics has improved significantly over the last few years. It encompasses a variety of techniques from statistics and data mining that analyze current and historical data. Also, the new trend in advanced analytics is to leverage unstructured data along with structured data for better and informed decisions. This technical session focused on data mining techniques, unstructured data analytics and how these technologies enable business analytics to uncover actionable patterns from large data-sets.
Dr. Pisipati has a career of around two decades focused on Academics, Research and Development, and he is currently working as a Principal Research Scientist at SET Labs, Infosys Technologies Limited, Hyderabad. He was a consulting advisor to many Public and Private Sector Banks in India for implementation of End-to-End Enterprise-wide Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions. He also serves in the editorial boards of few international journals; reviewer of IEEE TSE, Information Sciences, Data and Knowledge Engineering and Soft Computing journals.His research interests include Data mining, Data warehousing and Electronic contracts. He authored five books and has more than seventy publications.
