In a significant development for the districts of South Orissa, the Ministry of Small & Medium Enterprises, MSME, Government of India, approved the establishment of a full fledged Incubator for Entrepreneurs at the Berhampur based National Institute of Science & Technology. NIST is the one of the 22 top Institutes of India selected by the MSME for the rare honour to host a fully Government funded Incubator.
NIST will provide necessary building, laboratories and consultancy through its elite faculty to would-be entrepreneurs who want to pursue a business idea. Marketing and infrastructural support in addition to project funding will be provided by NIST. The MSME has granted a sum of Rs. 26.5 Lacs in the first phase to host and fund 4 entrepreneurs whose business ideas have been approved for funding, such as Solar Lawn Mower, Wi-Fi based E-Guide for Tourist & Museum Applications, Robotic Kits for Students and E-Learning Module for Management. The Director of NIST, Prof Sangram Mudali, congratulated the incubatees and promised all support to entrepreneurs of South Orissa who wish to see their dream fulfilled. Dr. Pawan Kumar, Coordinator EDC, NIST will coordinate the program.
