NIST Alumni Scholarship Fund

                        

IITs and many Govt. institutes are getting huge funds from Govt., Alumni and many others for providing scholarships, UG research grants, travel grants, etc., to their students. Only few private institutes in the country have thought about harnessing the power of the alumni for instituting such welfare measures for the needy students. NIST is one such institute who is providing stipend to MTech students, giving Siba Prasad Bisyoi Scholarship, Economic Hardship Scholarships, Teaching Assistantships, Book Grants, Travel Grants, Conference Grants, Directors Merit Awards, Gold and Silver Medals to the Toppers, etc. However no alumni funding mechanism has been created except the donations by only the management. So, our first attempt is to generate a fund of Rs. 10 Lakhs, interest of which will be used to give merit-cum-means scholarships to the deserving students as is the norm in IITs. In the ultimate analysis apart from the financial benefit to the needy students, the contribution of alumni clearly makes the alumni a stakeholder in the Institute and gives him/her the joy and satisfaction of having given to the Alma Mater as a thank you. On behalf of NIST faculty and staff members, I urge all our Alumni to contribute for the “NIST Alumni Scholarship Fund”. Please send your contribution (minimum INR 2000.00) in favour of “NIST Alumni Scholarship Fund” payable at Berhampur, Orissa. Every donation, small or large, is welcome. All donations will be acknowledged through NIST E-news, Alumni Portals and other media.
