Needs and Objective of Informations Systems, Models for representing Systems: Narrative, Mathematical, Graphical, Tabular and Procedural, System Integration, Information Concepts: Inforamtion Context and redundancy Data vs. Information flow within the organization.
Introduction to systems Analysis and Design: System Life Cycle, System Analysis and its different stages Classical and Structured approaches, Structured Analysis tools: DFD, Data Dictionary, Decision tree. Cost/Benefit Analysis. Systems Design: Logical and physical design. Input/Output design with the required files and Data Base specifictions, Procedure design. Developing programs - Software with its algorithm and output files, viz.transaction files, master files and Report files. Structured Design Practices: Top Down Structure and its modularity concept. Software Design and Documentation tools: HIPO and Warrier/ Orr Diagrams. System Implementation: System testing and quality assurance, HW/SW selection, Conversion, maintenance. Activity network.
