CSE-401 OPERATING SYSTEMS
Basic Concepts, Multiprogramming, Batch Processing, Time Sharing, Real Time, Multi Processing and Distributed modes of Computing. File Systems, Directory Systems, File Protection.
Multiprocessor scheduling -Algorithms, Memory Management ; Fixed Partition, variable partition, paging and segmentation, virtual memory ,demand paging, allocation and page replacement algorithm.
I/O scheduling. Dead Locks. Concurrent Processors : Critical Section problem - semaphores - process coordination, problem semaphares, process coordiantion problems - concurrent programming.
Operating system design principles - Distributed systems - Case studies - OS/360, Introduction to DOS and UNIX.
