- D.C. circuits: Ideas of electric circuits, power and energy in circuits, series and
parallel circuits,kirchoffs law and their applications, branch and loop current
method of solving networks, use of crammers rule
- Work,power & energy: Effects of electric current, Joules law of electric
heating Thermal efficiency, SI units, calculation of power of a hydroelectric power
station.
- A.C. circuit fundamentals: Alternating quantities, sinusoidal rectangular and trangular
wave forms, effective avarage value and form factor, power and power factor addition and
subtraction of AC quantities of same frequencies, phasor and complex representation of
sinusoidal quantities, simple parallel and series circuits,series and parallel
resonance,introduction to 3-phase circuits, relation between phase and line quantities.
- Power Apparatus: Principles of voltage transformation by single phase transformer,
construction and e.m.f. equation of simple DC generator and alternator. Elementary working
principle of DC motor and induction motor.
