ECE-702 Antennas and Propagation
Review of ground wave, space wave, sky wave propagation, troposcatter propagation and duct propagation, propagation characteristics of different frequency bands, propagation of E.M. waves in ionosphere, absence and presence of magnetic field (Theory of Eccles and Larmer)
Ionosphere:Ionosphere, Ionospheric layer structure, champan theory and its extension, continuity equation for ionosphere, Effect of earths magnetic field, Faraday rotation and the measurement of total electron current.
Ionospheric Perturbation: Regular and irregular variance of the ionosphere, Sudden ionospheric disturbances, sudden enhancement of atmospheric, Fading out, sudden comic noise absorption, sudden phase anomaly, Perturbation due to unclear bursts
Broad band antenna:Introduction, Antenna Bandwidth, Antenna arrays: Long wire Antennas: Discone Antennas, The helical Antennas, helix dimension, radiation and transmission modes of helics, normal radiation mode, axial mode of radiation, terminal impedance of helics, axial mode pattern and the phase velocity of wave propagation on helics.
Frequency independent antennas: Basic principle and requirements for independence, planar equiangular spiral antenna & conical equiangular spiral antenna, design considerations of Log periodic antenna, Log periodic dipole arrays, transmission line active and reflection region of dipole arrays, array as a loaded transmission line, design of log periodic antenna
