Static Magnetic Field: Biot-Savart Law, Amperes circuital law, Cur of H.Strokes Theorem, Flux density and flux, Divergence of scalar and vector magnetic potentials, Derivation of magnetic field law. Force on a moving charge, Force on a differential current element, Force and torque on a closed loop. The nature of magnetic materials, Magnetization and permeability, Magnetic boundary conditions, potential energy and force on magnetic materials.Inductors and inductance, Mutual inductance, Examples of calculation of inductance.
Solution of Static Field Problems: Poisson and Laplaces equations, Field governed by Poissons and Laplaces equations. Simple examples.
Method of Images: Principle of method of images. Application to problems with simple boundaries.
Time-varying fields: Maxwells Equations: Faradays law, displacement current, Maxwells equation in differential form, Maxwells equation in integral form, and Maxwells equations for the time periodic case, Retarded potential, Boundary conditions for time varying fields.
Application of Maxwells Equation: Flow of power: Power flow in electromagnetic field, The poynting vector, Instantaneous, average and complex poynting vectors, power flow in coaxial cable, Skin effect.
electromagnetic Wave: The wave equation, Uniform plane wave in free space, Plane wave in perfect dielectric, plane waves in good conductors, plane waves in lossy dielectric, reflection of normally incident plane waveform a perfect conducting plane and from a perfect dielectric plane, standing wave ratio.
Wave Guides: Wave-guides, Mode in wave-guides, solution of TE10 & TM11 modes in rectangular wave-guides, methods of excitation of modes wave-guides.
Antenna: Definition of Antenna, basic parameters of Antenna. Principles of working of commercial Antenna ( Yagiuda, Parabolic).
