ADMISSION

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)

Admission to the four year degree course leading to Bachelor of Technology (BTech.) degree is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the AIEEE conducted each year in May/June by Government of Orissa and the CBSE respectively for admission to the Engineering Colleges of Orissa. The minimum eligibility for appearing in JEE/AIEEE is pass in +2 science. For more information on the JEE examinations, please contact the Director of Technical Education and Training, Cuttack, Orissa. More information on the AIEEE examination is available with CBSE, New Delhi. Reservation for SC/ST, handicapped, Women, Military, Green Card, etc., is available. Five percent of the total intake is reserved for NRI/In-lieu of NRI quota. The details of eligibility, reservations for various categories, medical requirements and procedures for admissions are per the guidelines in the Information Brochure for Joint Entrance Examination and the All India Engineering Entrance Examination. Students with Diploma Degrees can be admitted into the 3rd semester directly in all branches as per JEE Lateral Entry rules. The intake strength at NIST for the academic year 2002-2003 is as follows :

Computer Science and Engineering 120
Electronics and Communication Engineering 120
Electrical and Electronics Engineering 60
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering 60
Information Technology 90

The details of eligibility, reservations for various categories, medical requirements and procedures for admissions are per the guidelines in the Information Brochure for Joint Entrance Examination. Students with Diploma Degrees can be admitted into the 3rd semester directly in all branches as per JEE Lateral Entry rules.

Admission to MCA Programme

Admission to the three years degree course leading to a Master in Computer Applications (MCA) is through the JEE (MCA) conducted by the State Government. Students having a Bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject in the +2 level are eligible to appear the JEE (MCA) and to take admission. Five percent of the total intake is reserved for NRI/In-lieu of NRI quota. The intake strength at NIST for the academic year 2002-2003 is as follows :
